Cleveland Cavaliers City Edition 22—23

For the 2022–2023 City Edition uniforms, the Cleveland Cavaliers partnered with artist Daniel Arsham and the Cavs creative team to develop an identity and merchandise program inspired by one of Northeast Ohio’s most cherished natural landmarks—the Cleveland Metroparks. Known for its expansive green spaces and scenic Lake Erie views, the Metroparks served as the foundation for a concept rooted in nature and place.

Embracing Cleveland’s moniker “The Land,” the design took a literal approach—drawing from the region’s natural resources, farmland, and lakefront to inform the uniform’s palette and aesthetic. A neutral color scheme of browns, beiges, and soft Lake Erie blue established a grounded base, capturing the earthy tones of Northeast Ohio’s landscape.

To create a bridge between the new concept and the team’s legacy, the design incorporated subtle nods to past Cavaliers brand marks, including the 1980s “V Ball” logo and the 1990s black and blue lockup. The result was a uniform that honored the team’s history while introducing a fresh perspective rooted in place, nature, and community.
