City Edition Playhouse Square

For the 2023-24 Cleveland Cavaliers’ City Edition uniforms, we took inspiration from one of Cleveland’s most iconic landmarks - the Playhouse Square Theatre District. As the second largest theater district in the United States, we felt it was important to put a spotlight on this for the rest of the NBA and world to acknowledge.

The foundation of the identity stems from the vibrant reds and ornate detailing seen within the theatres that could naturally fit the system needed for the City Edition program. Once applied to the NBA uniform, the outcome featured replicated ornate detailing on the uniform trim, an homage to a theatre curtain as a short-hit and other subtle easter eggs in reference to Cleveland, Ohio and its iconic theatre district.
